FAQs
Questions before you begin
If your question is not here, you are welcome to ask it in a free 15-minute consultation.
What is counseling, and how do I know if it's right for me?
Counseling is a structured, confidential conversation with a trained professional. It gives you space to understand what you are carrying, learn practical skills, and make changes with support rather than alone.
You do not need a crisis or a diagnosis to benefit. If something is weighing on you, if the same problem keeps returning, or if you simply want a place to think out loud with someone objective, counseling can be a good fit.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is an intake appointment. I spend time getting to know you, talking about what brought you to counseling, and identifying what you would like to be different. You are welcome to ask questions about my approach, the process, and what to expect.
The intake fee is $150. By the end of that session, you and I should both have a clearer sense of whether I am the right fit and what working together might look like.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
I draw on approaches like CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, TF-CBT, and SFBT — you can read about each on the Approaches page. I also use bibliotherapy when reading and reflective writing fit what you are working through.
My approach is integrative rather than one-size-fits-all. I will talk with you about what you need and adjust the work as it evolves.
How much does counseling cost?
The intake session is $150 and ongoing sessions are $125. Payment is due before each session.
If cost is a concern, please bring it up. I am happy to talk through insurance, scheduling, and what is realistic for you before you commit to anything.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept most major insurance carriers. Because plans and networks vary, please call (321) 368-2846 to verify your coverage before your first appointment.
Some people choose to pay privately instead. Self-pay keeps your counseling record out of the insurance system and can offer more privacy, though it means paying the session fee directly.
How long will I be in therapy?
There is no standard length. Some people come for a focused concern and feel finished in a handful of sessions; others stay longer because the work is broader or because they value having a steady place to check in.
I will review progress with you rather than assume a fixed timeline. You are always free to pause or end counseling, and you can bring that up openly at any time.
Is what I share confidential?
What you share in counseling is confidential, with a few legal exceptions that apply to all licensed counselors. Those typically include a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, and a court order requiring records or testimony.
I will explain confidentiality and its limits at the start of the work, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point.
Do you work with adolescents and adults?
Yes. I work with adolescents and adults, and I adjust the approach to the person in front of me. With adolescents, caregivers are usually part of the process — not to take over the sessions, but so the people at home understand what is being worked on and how to support it.
If you are unsure whether counseling is appropriate for your child or teenager, a free 15-minute consultation is a good place to start.
Do you offer telehealth?
Sessions are currently held in person at my Longwood office. If you have accessibility, transportation, or scheduling concerns, please reach out and I am happy to talk about what is possible.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Start with a free 15-minute consultation. You can email me at [email protected] or call (321) 368-2846. I will ask briefly about what you are looking for, answer your questions, and help you decide whether to move forward.
If you schedule, I will confirm the appointment time, the intake fee, and the payment methods I accept.
